WINONA, TX — September 5, 2025
The Lone Oak Buffaloes continued their dominant early-season form with a 47-6 road victory over the Winona Wildcats on Friday night. Fueled by a ferocious defense that forced seven turnovers, Lone Oak improved to 2-0 and will now return home for a highly anticipated homecoming clash with Big Sandy.

First Quarter: Turnovers Turn into Touchdowns
The Buffaloes wasted no time making their presence felt. On just the second play from scrimmage, the Lone Oak defense forced a fumble that Daniel Barahona recovered, setting the offense up in scoring position. Barahona punched in a 1-yard touchdown moments later to start the night’s scoring.

Quarterback Slayde Parnell quickly followed that with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Max Ramirez, and then the defense struck again—Kallan Patterson forced a sack-fumble that Sammy Rodriguez scooped up and returned 18 yards for a defensive touchdown. Lone Oak led 21-0 before Winona had recorded a single first down.

Second Quarter: Quick Response to Winona’s Lone Score
Winona got on the board with a 3-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter, but the Buffaloes answered immediately. Parnell launched a 28-yard touchdown strike to Dillon Cline, then converted a two-point play to stretch the lead to 29-6 heading into halftime.

Third Quarter: McCallum Breaks Loose
Coming out of the half, Alex McCallum continued Lone Oak’s ground dominance. On his seventh carry of the game, McCallum ripped through the line and bolted 44 yards to the end zone, pushing the lead to 37-6.

The defense continued its smothering effort. Patterson recorded his second forced fumble of the night, while Rodriguez, Barahona, Moises Perez, Christian Morris, and Peyton Jackson all tallied takeaways or disruptive plays. Winona simply had no answers for the relentless pressure.

Fourth Quarter: Bowman Delivers the Knockout
With the game already sealed, Colt Bowman delivered the knockout blow with a stunning 63-yard touchdown run, slicing through defenders and sprinting down the sideline for Lone Oak’s sixth touchdown of the night. Moi Perez then capped the scoring with a 39-yard field goal, putting the final tally at 47-6.

Stat Leaders
Slayde Parnell: 6/10, 100 yds, 2 TD

Daniel Barahona: 18 rushes, 72 yds, 1 TD; 2 rec, 39 yds

Alex McCallum: 7 rushes, 70 yds, 1 TD

Colt Bowman: 2 rushes, 62 yds, 1 TD

Sammy Rodriguez: 2 fumble recoveries, 1 TD

Peyton Jackson: 9 total tackles, 3 TFL, 1 FR

Kallan Patterson: 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles

Looking Ahead: Homecoming vs. Big Sandy
The Buffaloes will now turn their attention to their homecoming game next Friday as they host Big Sandy. With a 2-0 start and one of the most disruptive defenses in the region, Lone Oak will look to continue its winning ways in front of what’s expected to be a packed home crowd.

If their Week 2 performance is any indication, Big Sandy better come ready—because Lone Oak is playing fast, physical, and with purpose.
