The Lone Oak Lady Buffs Cross Country team made school history this week at the UIL Region 2 Cross Country Meet, delivering an outstanding performance and earning a 4th-place team finish to qualify for the UIL State Meet for the first time in school history!
Leading the way for the Lady Buffs was Addison Wilhite, who turned in an incredible performance with a 5th-place overall finish against a talented regional field. Tiffany Wittrock followed with an impressive 13th-place finish, while Korah Shockley secured 20th place to help propel Lone Oak to its historic team finish. Rounding out the scoring lineup were Abbie Garrett in 59th place and Cynthia Lemon in 73rd place. Team alternates Addie Hogue and Kellyn Walker have also been important members of this Lady Buffs squad throughout the season.
The girls ran with determination, competed with confidence, and represented Lone Oak with tremendous pride. Their fourth-place finish is the culmination of countless miles, early mornings, hard work, and a commitment to one another throughout the season. This team has continued to raise the standard, and now the Lady Buffs have earned the opportunity to compete on the biggest stage in Texas high school cross country.
NEXT STOP: STATE!
The Lady Buffs will travel to Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas, on Saturday, November 7, at 10:55 a.m. to compete in the UIL State Cross Country Meet. The girls are prepared, focused, and ready to take on the state's best as they look to finish this historic season with another memorable performance.
This group has already accomplished something special, but they aren't finished yet! Lone Oak is proud of these young ladies and the way they have represented their school, community, and one another throughout this journey.
One team. One goal. One historic opportunity.
