LADY BUFFS PUNCH THEIR TICKET TO REGIONALS AT DISTRICT 15-3A CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Lone Oak Buffaloes and Lady Buffs Cross Country teams wrapped up the District 15-3A Cross Country Championships with plenty to celebrate. The Lady Buffs tied for second place as a team to qualify for the Regional Meet, while the varsity boys finished their season on a high note with a strong team effort and impressive individual improvements.
Lady Buffs Earn Regional Berth
The Lone Oak Lady Buffs delivered an outstanding performance, tying for second place as a team and earning the opportunity to compete at the Regional Meet.
Addison Wilhite led the Lady Buffs with an impressive 5th-place overall finish, followed closely by Tiffany Wittrock in 6th place overall. Both runners earned individual medals and helped lead the way for Lone Oak.
Korah Shockley added a 13th-place finish, Abbie Garrett placed 20th, and Cynthia Lemon finished 27th. Jaycee May and Abigayle Springer also contributed to the team's effort, while Kellyn Walker and Addie Hogue served as alternates for the regional qualifying team.
On the boys' side, Jett Smith earned an individual medal with a 7th-place overall finish in the JV Boys division, providing another highlight for the Buffaloes at the district championship.
The Lady Buffs will compete at the Regional Meet on October 27 at 12:00 p.m., where they will look to earn a trip to the UIL State Cross Country Championships in Round Rock on November 7.
Buffaloes Finish Strong
The Lone Oak varsity boys also turned in a performance worth celebrating, finishing their season on a high note. Eli Haugen, Asher Brock, and Tyler Willis led the way for the Buffaloes, with Jack Esckelson and Holley Witten rounding out the team.
One of the day's most impressive accomplishments came from the team's overall improvement. Twelve of Lone Oak's 15 runners improved their times compared with their performances two weeks earlier on the exact same course. That progress reflects the commitment, determination, and hard work the runners have put in throughout the season.
For the varsity boys, it was a fitting way to close out the year. Their continued improvement and willingness to compete demonstrated the growth of the program and the effort each athlete has invested in becoming a better runner.
Looking Ahead
The District 15-3A Championships provided a strong finish to the regular season for Lone Oak Cross Country. From individual medalists and a regional qualifying team to personal improvements and a successful season of growth, the Buffaloes and Lady Buffs have plenty to be proud of.
Congratulations to all of our runners and coaches on a tremendous season! The Lady Buffs now turn their attention to regionals, where they will compete for a chance to advance to the state championship in Round Rock.
Once a Buffalo, always a Buffalo! The road to state continues!
