The Lone Oak Cross Country team opened the season this past weekend at the Eustace Opener, giving runners their first opportunity to compete and establish an early-season benchmark.

Leading the way for the Lady Buffs was Addison Wilhite, who finished 9th overall in the Varsity Division. Wilhite was followed by teammates Tiffany Wittrock in 13th, and Korah Shockley in 20th

In the JV Girls Division, Abigale Springer turned in a strong performance, finishing 10th overall.

The Lone Oak boys were led by Asher Brock, who crossed the finish line in 12th place. Tyler Willis followed in 22nd, while Sidney Hudgins finished 24th.

The Eustace Opener provided the Buffaloes and Lady Buffs with valuable early-season competition as the team continues to build toward the championship portion of the season.

Lone Oak will be back on the course Thursday, August 20, traveling to Kaufman for the Running with the Lions event. The team will look to build on its opening-week performances and continue improving throughout the early part of the season.
