The Lone Oak Cross Country teams traveled to Wolfe City this week to compete in the Running Wolves Invitational, and the Buffaloes came away with several strong finishes against a competitive field.

The Varsity Girls turned in an impressive performance, finishing 2nd as a team. Leading the way for Lone Oak were medalists Addison Wilhite, who finished 3rd overall, followed by Tiffany Wittrock in 6th and Korah Shockley in 8th. The Lady Buffs continued to show their strength at the front of the field and put together another strong team performance.

On the Varsity Boys side, Eli Haugen led the Buffaloes as the team's top finisher. He was followed closely by the Lone Oak freshman trio of Asher Brock, Jack Esckelson, and Tyler Willis, who continued to gain valuable experience competing at the high school level.

The JV Girls also had a tremendous showing, finishing 3rd in a tightly contested team race and ending just four points out of 1st place. Medalist Cynthia Lemon led Lone Oak with a 5th-place finish, followed by medalist Kellyn Walker in 11th. Medalist Jaycee May and Abigale Springer rounded out the top group, finishing 15th and 16th, respectively.

The Junior High runners officially opened their season at Wolfe City and showed plenty of toughness and determination, competing in a field that featured well over 100 runners.

For the JH Girls, Alyssa Wright led the way, followed by Brianna Kinney and Avery Sanders. For all three runners, this was their first-ever cross country meet, making their performances even more impressive as they took on the challenge and gained valuable race experience.

On the JH Boys side, Avery Jackson led Lone Oak with a 16th-place overall finish, while placing 4th in the 7th-grade division. Easton Melancon and Brecken Walker rounded out the Lone Oak boys team.

Overall, it was a great meet with strong competition, fantastic finishes, and plenty of positive signs for the Lone Oak Cross Country program. Both the high school and junior high teams continue to build momentum as the season progresses.

The JH Buffaloes will be back in action on September 19 when Lone Oak hosts the Bradon Lynch Memorial, while the high school teams return to competition next week when they travel to McKinney for the Parish Episcopal Fall Opener.

The Buffaloes continue to put in the work, compete with purpose, and represent Lone Oak with pride!
