Lone Oak Junior High boys and girls track teams delivered impressive performances at the Salt Capital Track Meet in Grand Saline on February 24, 2025. With multiple top finishes across the board, the 7th-grade boys placed 5th, while the 8th-grade boys finished 3rd. The 7th- and 8th-grade girls' teams both secured 2nd place overall.

Girls' Highlights
The 7th-grade girls had strong individual performances, including Piper Irrgang taking 1st in pole vault and placing in multiple events. Kyal Williams finished 2nd in long jump and 300 hurdles, while Brier Smith secured 2nd in discus. The 4x100 relay team of Richardson, Rainbolt, Williams, and Irrgang finished 3rd.

The 8th-grade girls narrowly missed 1st place as a team. Brooklyn Moore took 1st in the 200-meter dash, Korah Shockley dominated the distance races, winning both the 800m and 1600m, and Cynthia Lemon finished 1st in the 2400m. Kaci Baker secured 1st in discus, while the 4x400 relay team of Shockley, Salazar, Walker, and Moore finished 3rd.

Boys' Highlights
The 7th-grade boys relay teams had a great showing, with the 4x100m team (Westbrook, Gibson, Glenday, Bowman) finishing 2nd (54.06) and the 4x200m team also securing 2nd place (1:56.04). In field events, Lane Westbrook placed 3rd in triple jump (30’-1.25”), and Weston Glenday finished 3rd in discus and 5th in shot put.

The 8th-grade boys had several top performances, led by Trace Cotton, who won 1st place in the high jump (5’-6”), 400m (58.98), and 800m (2:23.33). Tavin Maiwelmal added a 2nd-place finish in the 2400m run (9:30.60). The 4x200m relay team (Hooten, Bowman, Haugen, Niles) placed 3rd (1:44.47), and the 4x400m relay team (Cotton, Eiland, Sarmiento, Niles) finished 3rd (4:14.53). Hooten and Bowman secured 3rd and 4th place in shot put, respectively.
